Ceramic Coating vs Wax: Which Is Better?

Think of ceramic coating as wax on steroids. Both protect paint, but they last very different amounts of time.
Is ceramic coating better than wax?
For long-term protection, yes. Wax lasts weeks to a few months; a properly applied ceramic coating can last years, resists UV, road salt and bird droppings better, and makes washing much easier. Wax is cheaper up front but has to be reapplied constantly.
| Wax | Sealant | Ceramic coating | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lasts | 1–3 months | 4–6 months | Years |
| Chemical resistance | Low | Medium | High |
| Prep needed | Wash | Wash | Full decontamination |
Why prep decides the result
A coating locks in whatever is under it — including swirls. That's why every Slums coating starts with full decontamination, and higher levels include correction first.
